Gibson Custom Shop Brian Ray 1963 SG Standard

By the time Brian Ray found himself as the guitarist and music director for Etta James in 1972, the Gibson SG had been introduced, renamed, and morphed from a misunderstood visual oddity to one of Rock’s most recognized guitars. In the time since, both Brian Ray and the Gibson SG have become two very sold contributors that have shared the stage with a virtual who’s who of rock and roll’s elite. For Brian’s part, that list includes Keith Richards, Peter Frampton and Rita Coolidge. As a writer, he contributed to the 1987 Smokey Robinson hit “One Heartbeat”. In 2002, Brian joined the Paul McCartney band, adding a very pronounced exclamation point to a career most would have been envious to have in the first place. Here are the details: Silver Fox finish, One piece Mahogany body, Bound 12" radius Indian Rosewood fingerboard with the Cellulose Trapezoid inlays on a one piece Mahogany neck, Custom Bucker bridge and '57 Classic neck pickups, Historic Bumble Bee tone capacitors, ABR-1 bridge and a Bigsby B5 w/Vibromate tailpiece, Kluson Deluxe tuners, 7.2 pounds, With hardshell case

Gibson Custom Shop Ronnie Wood L5S

Not all vintage guitars were built in the 1960’s. In the periods between “The Golden Era” and the rebirth of Gibson solid body guitars as today’s new icons in their own right, a few gems found their way into the mix. Ask Ron Wood which of those few most unnoticeably under the radar and he’ll tell you that the L5S is the most beloved to him personally. And who can agree with the very definition of “rock star?” That’s why, today, Gibson Custom is pleased to offer a solid body inspired by a time of improbability, from an era that most guitar players might not recognize as having made some significant contributions to music. Applying the standards of craft, material and quality now the norm at Gibson Custom means the new Ron Wood L5S is not only a great retro Gibson design, but one of incredible tone and feel. In a purposeful deviation from its 1970’s predecessor, the Ron Wood L5S sports a Les Paul sized headstock as opposed to the larger L5 headstock. While the latter has its fans, the former, in Ron’s view, offers a better look as well as balance to the guitar. A limited run of 250 guitars will be built. Here are the details: Ebony Gloss finish, Serial number RW-002, Two piece carved Maple top on a solid Mahogany body, Multi-ply top and back binding, Single layer Ebony fingerboard with the Pearl block inlays on a L5S profile shaped 5 ply Maple/Walnut/Maple neck, Burst Bucker #2 bridge and Burst Bucker #1 neck pickups, Tune-o-matic bridge with a stopbar tailpiece, Grover tuning keys, 8.4 pounds, With hardshell case
