This is the first ’58 Les Paul to be offered in the Collector’s Choice series and it also happens to belong to Grammy Award winning artist, Greg Martin of The Kentucky Headhunters. This rare ’58 is a one that was built to early ’59 specs. A limited run of up to 300 guitars will be built. He eventually branched out and began working with former Derek and the Dominos keyboardist Bobby Whitlock, before hooking up with legendary J. Geils Band frontman Peter Wolf and spending the next seven years as Wolf’s lead guitarist and co-producer. When Robby Krieger first acquired his original 1954 Les Paul Custom in 1968, a writing, performing and recording partnership of legendary proportions began. Aptly nicknamed “LA Woman” as the guitar used to record one of many unforgettable songs from The Doors, it remains in Robby’s possession as a tried and true companion to a career that has continually evolved and inspired over decades. Over the years, the guitar has played sidekick to one of the most influential and admired creators of American music. As both a writing companion and workhorse, Robby’s 1954 Les Paul Custom has been through it all. A limited run of 50 aged and signed guitars will be built.
