Gibson Custom Shop Collector’s Choice Number 7 1960 Les Paul “Shanks” Aged

With fewer than 2,000 Les Paul’s made between 1958 and 1960, these hallowed instruments are extremely rare and valuable. A handful of transitional guitars that blend the ever evolving specs are even more prized. As the chunky, rounded neck profile of the ’59 segued into the slimmer, faster profile of the ’60 Les Paul Standard, a mere handful of the fatter 50’s necked examples slipped into the new model year, and of these, the Les Paul owned by legendary music producer and songwriter John Shanks is known to be as good as it gets. A limited run of 400 guitars will be built. Here are the details: Unique Faded Cherry Sunburst, Serial number CC07A-206, Lightly figured Maple top, One piece Mahogany body, Aniline Dye used on the body and neck, Rounded neck profile, Single layer Rosewood fingerboard with the "original style" trapezoid inlays, Custom Bucker bridge and neck pickups, ABR-1 bridge with lightweight Aluminum stopbar tailpiece, Grover tuners, 8.8 pounds, With hardshell case

Gibson Custom Shop Collector’s Choice Number 17 1959 Les Paul “Louis”

“Louis” is the go to companion of Keith Nelson, founding member of So Cal band Buckcherry, making it a familiar voice to a loyal fan base that spans the globe. After thirty years cautiously tucked away in a private collection, “Louis” was put back on the front lines as an everyday workhorse for both studio and stage when Keith fell in love with its unique, classic Les Paul tone. Through a longtime friend and vintage guitar broker, Keith had the once in a lifetime opportunity to put six original 1959 Les Paul’s through their paces, pouring over each one’s weight, feel and most importantly, its sound. In the end, Keith found his Les Paul tone in “Louis” and it’s been a nonstop partnership ever since. A limited run of up to 300 aged guitars will be built. Here are the details: Nelson Dirty Lemon finish, Serial number CC17A-188, Figured Maple top, One piece Mahogany body, Aniline Dye used on the body and neck, Accurate vintage color fingerboard and body binding that is a darker Cream to match the original 50’s era binding, Hide Glue neck fit, Single layer Rosewood fingerboard, New Historic truss rod assembly without the tube surround, ’57 Classic bridge and Burst Bucker #3 neck pickups, ABR-1 bridge with lightweight Aluminum stopbar tailpiece, Bumble Bee tone caps, Kluson “Deluxe” Green tuning keys, 8.4 pounds, With hardshell case

Gibson Custom Shop Collector’s Choice Number 30 1959 Les Paul “Gabby”

“Gabby”, a shortened take on her nickname “The Gibson Appraisal ‘Burst”, is among the unlikeliest rarities in the lore of vintage guitars; exceptionally clean with a beautiful top and a finish that’s retained an amazing amount of its original red in her factory applied Heritage Cherry Sunburst. The story of an original Gibson Les Paul that’s been all but hermetically sealed for over a half century spreads like wildfire through the vintage community. By the time Vic DaPra decided it was time to let some other lucky soul own her for a while, Gabby’s suitors were many and standing in line around the world. Ultimately, she was entrusted to Ronny Proler, another respected vintage collector, known for his generous entrustment of his prized collection to a network of active players. When Ronny finally had the chance to play Gabby himself, he was ecstatic. “Gabby has incredible flame, overall feel and that “early primitive” tone that we all dream about. Just a stunning example of an original ‘Burst in every aspect.” – Ronny Proler. A limited run of up to 300 aged guitars will be built. Here are the details: Appraisel ‘Burst finish, Serial number CC30A-146, Figured Maple top with a vintage carved dish, New finish that uses a four step wet sanding process with up to 1200 grit for a smoother period correct finish, One piece Mahogany body, Aniline Dye used on the body and neck, Accurate vintage color fingerboard and body binding that is a darker Cream to match the original 50’s era binding, Hide Glue neck fit, Single layer Indian Rosewood fingerboard, New Historic truss rod assembly without the tube surround, Alnico 3 Custom Bucker bridge and neck pickups, ABR-1 bridge with lightweight Aluminum stopbar tailpiece, Bumble Bee tone caps, Reissue deluxe Kluson tuning keys, 8.2 pounds, With hardshell case

Gibson Custom Shop Collector’s Choice Number 26 1959 Les Paul “Whitford ‘Burst”

Unwavering: a solid word that voices commitment to achievement regardless of how difficult the challenge and how long it may take to succeed. It’s one of the things that make the 1959 Les Paul and Brad Whitford have in common. Both the introduction of the ’59 Les Paul and the early days of Aerosmith were challenges to say the least. However, in both cases, time proved that commitment can outwait opinion and that talent and craft are undeniable. When Brad Whitford offered up his original 1959 Les Paul to join the elite company of Collector’s Choice guitars, it resonated on many levels. A limited run of up to 300 aged guitars will be built. Here are the details: Aged Whitford ‘Burst finish, Serial number CC26A-005, Figured Eastern Maple top, One piece Mahogany body, Aniline Dye used on the body and neck, Accurate vintage color fingerboard and body binding that is a darker Cream to match the original 50’s era binding, Hide Glue neck fit, Single layer Rosewood fingerboard, New Historic truss rod assembly without the tube surround, Custom Bucker bridge and neck pickups, ABR-1 bridge with lightweight Aluminum stopbar tailpiece, Bumble Bee tone caps, Kluson “Deluxe” Green tuning keys, 8.6 pounds, With hardshell case
