Gibson Custom Shop Collector’s Choice Number 18 1960 Les Paul “Dutchburst”

Among the many characteristics that make “Dutchburst” a very intriguing guitar is the fact that only two people have owned it; the original owner, who acquired it in Holland in 1961, and its current owner, Robbert van der Ende, who acquired the guitar from the original owner’s son in 2012. The original owner, Jan, a working musician from Holland, played his 1960 Les Paul on cruise ships as part of a jazz trio, and relied on “Dutchburst” thru his entire career. A limited run of up to 300 aged guitars will be built. Here are the details: Aged “Dutchburst” finish, Serial number CC18A-020, Figured Maple top, One piece Mahogany body, Aniline Dye used on the body and neck, Accurate vintage color fingerboard and body binding that is a darker Cream to match the original 50’s era binding, Hide Glue neck fit, Single layer Rosewood fingerboard, New Historic truss rod assembly without the tube surround, Custom Bucker bridge and neck pickups, ABR-1 bridge with lightweight Aluminum stopbar tailpiece, Bumble Bee tone caps, Kluson “Deluxe” Green tuning keys, 8.8 pounds, With hardshell case

Gibson Custom Shop Collector’s Choice Number 16 1959 Les Paul “Redeye”

Collector’s Choice Number 16 is the long time sidekick of Ed King, co-writer of the southern rock classic “Sweet Home Alabama,” and has been played on countless gigs and recording sessions through Ed’s work with Lynyrd Skynyrd and Strawberry Alarm Clock. When Ed agreed to work with Gibson Custom to recreate his Collector’s Choice Les Paul, the team was taken initially by the beautiful, well preserved look of the guitar. “The top on this thing is crazy, and its condition is actually quite incredible,” said Edwin Wilson, Gibson Custom Historic Manager. Once we plugged it in, though, the rare mix of feel and tone that lay beneath the surface proved this guitar as well rounded an example of a rare ’59 burst as we have ever had the pleasure to recreate. A limited run of up to 300 guitars will be built. Here are the details: King's Burst/Cherry Sunburst finish, Serial number CC16A-206, Figured Maple top, One piece Mahogany body, Aniline Dye used on the body and neck, Accurate vintage color fingerboard and body binding that is a darker Cream to match the original 50’s era binding, Hide Glue neck fit, Single layer Rosewood fingerboard, New Historic truss rod assembly without the tube surround, Zebra Burst Bucker #3 bridge and neck pickups with Alnico III magnets, ABR-1 bridge with lightweight Aluminum stopbar tailpiece, Bumble Bee tone caps, Kluson “Deluxe” Green tuning keys, 8.6 pounds, With hardshell case

Gibson Custom Shop Collector’s Choice Number 13 Gordon Kennedy 1959 Les Paul “The Spoonful Burst”

When Gordon Kennedy received his original ’59 Les Paul in 2000, it was the realization of a personal dream. Not only was Gordon holding one of the most sought after and rare guitars in the world, but he also held one with a deep legend of musical heritage, popular music and ownership by a cultural icon. What he held was the sole guitar that had accompanied the musical journey of John Sebastian, best known for a brilliant and colorful career as the front man of The Lovin’ Spoonful. In this very special guitar’s memories are a string of hit songs including Do You Believe in Magic?, Nashville Cats and Welcome Back, the theme song for the hit TV show, Welcome Back Kotter. A limited run of up to 300 guitars will be built and each will come with a Tie Dye dust cover and a copy of the hand written letter from John Sebastian that details the guitars history. Here are the details: Dirty Lemon finish, Serial number CC13A-151, Figured Maple top, One piece Mahogany body, Aniline Dye used on the body and neck, Accurate vintage color fingerboard and body binding that is a darker Cream to match the original 50’s era binding, Hide Glue neck fit, Single layer Rosewood fingerboard, New Historic truss rod assembly without the tube surround, Custom Bucker bridge and neck pickups with Alnico III magnets, ABR-1 bridge with lightweight Aluminum stopbar tailpiece, Bumble Bee tone caps, Kluson “Deluxe” Green tuning keys, 8.6 pounds, With hardshell case

Gibson Custom Shop Collector’s Choice Number 17 1959 Les Paul “Louis”

Collector’s Choice #17 1959 Les Paul serial number 9-1062 aka “Louis” is the go to companion of Keith Nelson, founding member of So Cal band Buckcherry, making it a familiar voice to a loyal fan base that spans the globe. After thirty years cautiously tucked away in a private collection, “Louis” was put back on the front lines as an everyday workhorse for both studio and stage when Keith fell in love with its unique, classic Les Paul tone. Through a longtime friend and vintage guitar broker, Keith had the once in a lifetime opportunity to put six original 1959 Les Paul’s through their paces, pouring over each one’s weight, feel and most importantly, its sound. In the end, Keith found his Les Paul tone in “Louis” and it’s been a nonstop partnership ever since. A limited run of up to 300 aged guitars will be built. Here are the details: Nelson Dirty Lemon finish, Serial number CC17A-015, Figured Maple top, One piece Mahogany body, Aniline Dye used on the body and neck, Accurate vintage color fingerboard and body binding that is a darker Cream to match the original 50’s era binding, Hide Glue neck fit, Single layer Rosewood fingerboard, New Historic truss rod assembly without the tube surround, ’57 Classic bridge and Burst Bucker #3 neck pickups, ABR-1 bridge with lightweight Aluminum stopbar tailpiece, Bumble Bee tone caps, Kluson “Deluxe” Green tuning keys, 8.6 pounds, With hardshell case
