Welcome Huss And Dalton!

It’s time to proudly announce that we are a new dealer for Huss And Dalton! These wonderful acoustic guitars (and a few banjos) are made in Virginia to the highest of standards, and any guitar lover would be honored to own and play one!

Huss & Dalton guitars feature two distinct construction styles. On all of the standard series models, they employ the use of a 25' radius built into the guitar top, which is achieved by milling an arch into the braces and preparing the sides with the same radius to accept the soundboard. A positive by-product of the radiused soundboard design, besides it’s load-bearing properties, is a boost in the mid-range. This helps H&D guitars to have a more balanced tonal quality than traditional designs. The Traditional series features the same 25' radius prepared into the braces, but the sides are left flat for a more traditional build style. This build style tends to have a more traditional tonal character, emphasizing a bit more bass.

All Huss & Dalton guitars are braced with hand split Appalachian Red Spruce, which has a greater strength-to-weight ratio than other brace woods.

All bridge plates are made from Honduras Rosewood, selected for its superior tonal properties and resistance to string ball wear. H&D uses AAA grade top woods, which are checked individually for load bearing abilities, and are thickness sanded to achieve the best balance of strength and flexibility. Bone nuts are standard on all instruments and fully compensated 1/8” bone saddles on all guitar models. They then compensate the scale of every string to make our intonation as close as possible to perfect.

All necks are quarter-sawn Honduran Mahogany, Maple, Walnut, or Spanish Cedar, and all employ the use of a steel reinforced truss rod. Each neck is carved to a sleek comfortable feel, and the artisans at H&D can custom shape and size your neck to fit your needs. All fingerboards are Ebony, a beautiful, dense wood that is resistant to wear. Every fingerboard on every guitar model is bound. Those needing an unbound look are bound in Ebony. Binding all fingerboards means no fret ends are seen or felt. (Further, finish tends to chip away at the fret-ends on unbound boards.)

In addition to the many technical improvements to the design of H&D instruments, there are aesthetic improvements too. Most of these instruments feature solid wood bindings and are tastefully appointed with shell inlays. All guitars feature the use of the finest quarter-sawn woods available.

Finally, all Huss & Dalton instruments are priced with a hard shell case.

So…keep your eyes open. It won’t be long and we’ll be receiving the first of our lovely. Virginia-made Huss And Dalton guitars! We can’t wait!

DGS Taylor News

Well, you’ve been hearing about our beautiful DGS 25th Anniversary Taylors, right? Brazilian Rosewood backs and sides, Adirondack tops. (See our inventory link for photos and further details.)

We thought it would be fun to send one of each model back and have them retrofit with Taylor’s Expression System electronics. Initially, we really didn’t think of that option as we were really committed to keeping the cost affordable. But, some of you asked, and so we figured, what the hey?

And what will the up charge be? Not a cent to you! Yes, we’re offering you the option on these five guitars absolutely free!

And...they're here! Call now...your choice, $3995!

Santa Cruz Returns!

You know it! Santa Cruz Guitars make a triumphant return to DGS! We’ve been without these lovely guitars for a while, but are excited to welcome them back home. Want to know why we love them so?

Each Santa Cruz guitar receives an extraordinary amount of individual attention due to their "bench style" of building, which necessitates that each worker not only perform his own specialty, but also review the work of those who have completed stages before him. Over half of all the instruments that they build are custom orders, reflecting to a high degree the personality and unique playing needs of the buyer. Every guitar top is graduated and tuned by hand to attain maximum resonance and sustain, ensuring a high level of consistency of sound within each standard model line as well as the ability for custom voicing. The balance, tone, volume, and response of a Santa Cruz guitar are established before the guitar is strung.

This approach ensures that every Santa Cruz guitar is exceptional. That’s why we love them so!

Welcome Composite Acoustics!

One of the most exciting things we saw at NAMM this year was Composite Acoustics, a line of guitars made entirely of carbon fiber. We were stunned to walk into the booth and see one of their most exquisite models literally displayed in a tub with a showerhead over it and under running water! No wood here…no worries. (The soap and shampoo was also a nice touch.) OK…this means, of course, that you could take one to Mt. Everest, the Amazon River Basin, the Painted Desert or anything in between and never, ever have to worry about temperatures or humidity levels. Nice thought.

You know what really sold us? We played them. They sound fantastic and the play just beautifully! Yes, you guessed it, we had to have a piece of that action!

Ask yourself, what will the state of wood guitars be in 100 years? Will we have enough sustainable tone woods to keep making great sounding guitars out of natural resources? We think the forward-thinking folks at Composite Acoustics are not only on the cutting edge of future design, but they’re making incredible guitars!

Come and check out our GX Performer (8M-CE) and our Legacy Performer (8LL-CE) models. Either is available for $2249!

Our New DGS Card Program!

WOW! Now this is exciting news! We are partnering with GE Money Bank to offer never before available financing options through the NAMM Music Money Platinum Program. We’ll just call it the DGS Card Program for short. What does it mean?

It means you’ll be able to have your own DGS credit card, for use in the shop, and take advantage of financing promotions! Consider this…your normal credit card comes due every month, doesn’t it? With your new DGS card, you may be able to secure 90 days, even 6 months without interest if paid when due. Or, perhaps that once-in-a-lifetime guitar or amp is more affordable spread out over 48 months with nice low payments? GE offers seasonal promotional specials, too. Excellent programs to take advantage of when considering that killer Strat, bone crushing Martin, or anything else you have to think twice about.

What can your DGS card do for you? Extended financing not available with traditional bank cards. High-end purchases…low monthly payments. Fast “apply and buy today” approval process. NO INTEREST if paid in full when due. NO annual fee. Purchases don’t tie up other credit cards. 24 hours access to account information and online payments. Optional payment protection plan.

Now that’s what we call awesome!
